Želary is a story about love and the fatal clash of two different worlds, two different cultures. It is a story about a special relationship of fear, mistrust, but also love bonded by a common effort to survive.
Želary is a story from the Second World War about the life of people in a high-mountain village, a godforsaken place where people can be kind to each other, but also cruel, just like the surrounding nature. The production was created in its world premiere with a newly adapted version of the libretto by Zuzana Lapčíková (music and vocals) and Hana Litterová (choreography). The sets and costumes were designed by Dominika Lippertová.
