One of the most famous works by William Shakespeare and the drug mafia – this is a very unusual connection which gives rise to a whole number of absurd comical situations. The main characters of the story are the physically and mentally challenged members of an amateur theatre ensemble named Fantastic Theatre who are abused, for their own sinister purposes, by a family of not very smart drug dealers.
The family decides to smuggle a few kilos of cocaine into Macedonia using the artists. The Mafiosi thus become, seemingly selflessly, the main patrons of the strange theatre ensemble that is trying to look for funds for their journey to Macedonia, where they would like to captivate the audience of a theatre festival with their adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.
The author of this fresh, crazy, and slightly absurd comedy is the Israeli playwright, actor, and director Gur Koren, who has been operating since 2018 as a script editor of the renowned Cameri Theatre in Tel Aviv. Koren has been an unknown author for the Czech audience up till now, which will surely change in the coming years because his fame is skyrocketing across the entire theatrical world. His original comedy Fantastic Theatre (The Disabled in the original) saw its world premiere in Tel Aviv in 2014. It has been presented only once so far in this country, at the Municipal Theatre in Kladno in 2018 under the name The Non-complete. This contemporary and incredibly playfully written comedy will be directed by the young but very talented director Tereza Říhová.
