There’s going to be a wedding in the Bisognosi family in Venice. However, the mutually beneficial marriage of Pantalon’s daughter, Clarice, to Silvio, the son of Doctor Lombardi, is unexpectedly hindered by the arrival of a man who was promised to Clarice beforehand. He has come to claim his entitlement, although he should, beyond doubt, be already dead.
Florindo Aretusi, who supposedly killed this Turino native and is on the run, is staying at the same place. In addition, both have the same servant, and he has just decided that he can indeed serve two masters at the same time. Whether the servant proves successful and can stick to the words given by two men will be evident in a play full of confusion and misunderstanding, comical situations, somersaults and “lazzi“. A favorite and well-known comedy of a famous Italian playwright (it has been playing at the National Theatre in Prague for almost twenty years now, with Miroslav Donutil as the main character), comes from traditional topics and masks of dell´arte comedy,. It also transforms the sense of truth and modernity, therefore, you may be surprised how up-to-date it actually is today. ´The Servant of Two Masters´ last appeared on the Olomouc stage in 1989, and is now reprised with Roman Vencl in the role of Truffaldino.
