Hansel and Gretel is Engelbert Humperdinck's most famous opera. It is a deeply metaphorical story that is not limited only to the age of the main protagonists, but is captivating for all generations.
The journey into the unknown in order to find a home, a cosy cottage, is the pilgrimage of our lives for each of us. The director of the production, Eliška Říhová, creates dreamy and symbolic images on the edge of genres, which depict our fears and buried fears that we carry from our childhood as Hansel and Gretel do.
