Clever little lies
Bill is a rather ordinary guy in his thirties who has a nice wife, a recently born daughter, thoughtful parents, a new lover, and a pretty silly idea…

He is going to confess his love affair publicly and thus set sail from the untroubled waters of his marriage into the stormy seas of his new amorous adventure. Luckily, it is Bill’s mother Alice who is the first one to find out everything and who decides to embark on an uneasy, though typically mummy-like mission, whose objective is to reform her naughty little son and achieve the salvation of the already less than stable family circle.
The author of this very intelligent and brilliantly composed conversational comedy is the New York playwright Joe DiPietro. He is loved by the American audience, above all, for his musical librettos, which have been successfully performed from Alaska all the way to Broadway. His musical Memphis even won the prestigious Tony prize for musicals for 2010. The world premiere of the comedy Clever Little Lies took place at the George Street Playhouse in New Jersey on 19th November 2013 and since January 2015 it has been performed with extraordinary success at New York’s Westside Theatre. The Olomouc theatre-goers will have the unique opportunity to be the very first audience in the entire Czech Republic to see the comedy. The reason is that the Moravian Theatre was granted exclusive rights to the first Czech performance; the production will be directed by the artistic director of the Olomouc Drama Theatre, Roman Vencl.
